These are commercial tools for making artistic porcelain. You can make your improvised tools easily.


 

   

These tools are improvised version of the above tools, made out of tin cans. It's easy to cut the shapes with aviation scissors.

 


 

This tool is for cutting flowers through flattened porcelain dough. Different sizes can be made out of tin cans.

5. Transfer your dough on the table dusted with cornstarch (Ingredient #10). Let   it cool for a while until you can hold it with your hands.

 

 

6.      Knead dough with your hands, roll it into ball and cool to room temperature. Avoid exposure to air, cover with cheesecloth.

7.      When thoroughly cool, store dough in tightly sealed container or plastic bags. This will maintain the dough texture.

 

Hints:

 

   Dough’s exposure to air will harden it. Do not refrigerate, just store at room temperature.

 

Apply Color to Your Dough

 

A) How to apply color on your Cold Porcelain Dough

    

Materials needed:

1.      Poster colors – available at any Art and Craft Stores – red, yellow, green, etc.

2.      Plastic bowl

3.      White lard or margarine (if necessary – apply on hands)

4.      Cornstarch – if dough is sticky (optional)

 

For petals, flowers and buds – poster colors of red, yellow, pink, etc.

 

Procedure:

 

Get a portion of your C.P. dough; place it on a plastic bowl. Add the poster color of your choice little by little; add more color if needed. Work on it with your hand. Knead until you get your desired color.

 

 

For sepal and leaf

 

Procedure:

Use the same procedure, add poster color green or mix 2 hues of color green until you get the green color you want.

 

Notes and Tips:

 

1.      Don’t be afraid to experiment with colors. You can mix 2 or more color hues to obtain your desired color.

2.      Place all your colored C.P. dough in separate airtight containers.

3.      Take dough out, only when you are ready

to cut them.

 

 

  

Tools Needed for Cutting

 

You can improvise your own cutting tools in case you cannot find them in any art store. Use your mental and practical skills in doing them. Or ask the tinsmith to do it for your. I myself did some of my own, using local materials like tin metal or empty tin cans which is soft and malleable. Shape it according to the size you want.
